CONNECTICUT — Connecticut continued its worsening coronavirus trends Thursday with more hospitalizations and a single-day death report that was the most since June.

Gov. Ned Lamont called Thursday’s metrics disturbing and signs of a worsening trend. The state reported more than 2,300 new coronavirus cases and a daily positive test rate of 6.5 percent; the positive test rate was up from the seven-day average of 5.8 percent over the last seven days.

Connecticut added around 60 coronavirus testing sites as the state works to keep up with the demand, Lamont said. There are now around 260 locations across the state to get a test. Some people have reported long lines to get a test, which is reminiscent of the spring months when testing sites were more limited.

"I hate to dwell on this, but a lot of people think boy this time around it's safer, we got the therapies, it's a younger demographic," Lamont said. "No, 21 fatalities in the last day alone, pay attention to that."
