CT Television News Reporter Is 'Hanging Up The Microphone'
WFSB-TV reporter Courtney Zieller left the station this month after nearly a decade.
CONNECTICUT — Courtney Zieller, a reporter at Connecticut's WFSB-TV for the past nine and a half years, left the Hartford-based station earlier this month in search of her "next chapter."
A graduate of Wethersfield High School and Central Connecticut State University, Zieller has covered it all, from features to crime to weather, and she recently took to Facebook to say what a blast it has been.
"I wouldn't trade it for anything," Zieller wrote. "The ride has been wild! The things I’ve seen, the stories I’ve told, the people I’ve helped and met along the way have all been invaluable experiences that I hold dear to my heart."

Zieller had stints at stations in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota before joining the Channel 3 Eyewitness News team in late 2012. At those other stations, she was a one-person media dynamo, anchoring, producing, reporting and shooting her own stories.
"9.5 years at WFSB. 18 years in the news business. It has flown by in a flash," she wrote. "I started in TV when I was just 23-years-old. I packed some suitcases, shipped off a few necessities, left my home state of Connecticut and moved to the Quad Cities to get my start. You might be wondering, where’s that? Don’t worry, I had to look it up too when they asked me to fly out for an interview. For journalists, it was common to leave everything behind."

At Channel 3, Zieller covered Connecticut's craft beer industry with the station's "Something's Brewing" segments, and on Facebook, she gave a special shout out to those businesses.
"And to the fantastic craft beer community in CT — I don’t even have enough words to show you my appreciation," she wrote. "Seriously. Thank you for showing us your passion for this industry, the camaraderie, your hospitality, generosity and overall welcoming our cameras with open arms. It’s YOU who made Something’s Brewing the success it has been for 5+ years."
Zieller did not disclose what the future holds for her professionally, but one thing is certain, it will happen in the Constitution State.
"It has been quite the honor to share stories in my home state all these years," she wrote. "Connecticut is home. It’s where I grew up, where my family is, where my husband’s family is, and it’s where we will raise ours.
"I’m excited for the next chapter."
