CT Towns Safety Graded From A To C-: How Did Your Community Do?

It's not much a surprise that of the 11 communities in Connecticut to receive an A grade when it comes to overall safety that seven are from Fairfield County. Hartford County had three communities also receiving an A grade, and Madison was the lone New Haven community to receive the perfect A grade.

Forty-percent of the letter grades are based on assault and robbery rates, followed by murder rate, 15 percent, burglary rate, 10 percent, vehicle theft rate, 10 percent, larceny rate, 7.5 percent, and drug rate, 2.5 percent.

Niche.com says the rankings are based on "crime rates for murder, assault, rape, burglary, and other crime statistics. Ranking based on data from the FBI and U.S. Census."
