FOX 61 reporter Lauren Zenzie announced she will leave FOX 61 in a Friday tweet.

CONNECTICUT — FOX 61 reporter Lauren Zenzie announced she will be leaving the station in a Friday morning tweet.

Zenzie, a Connecticut native, joined FOX 61 in December 2020. Before that, she spent 3 years at WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts, as a talk show host for “Mass Appeal.” In her time there, Zenzie "developed a passion for working with the community and helping organizations and local businesses achieve success," according to her bio.

Prior to that, Zenzie was a reporter and anchor in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University.

Zenzie became well-known reporting on Connecticut's roads as the traffic anchor at FOX 61.

"To all of YOU, my friends, the dedicated, loyal viewers, thank you for always supporting me, sharing your stories with me, and most importantly, welcoming me into your homes every day," Zenzie wrote in a post on Facebook. "You have made my time reporting in the field, anchoring at the news desk, and helping you navigate your morning commute an absolute JOY. It’s not often that you get to go to work and truly LOVE what you do, but I did. I have a passion for helping people. A passion for finding incredible stories in the least likely places. To all of you who trusted me to share your story, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is very bittersweet for me, because I have amazing things on the horizon, which I will share soon! It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon!"

Zenzie provided an inside look at what it's like to be a TV news reporter in a TikTok last year.

"The 2 a.m. wakeup alarm hits differently when you have a baby and toddler," she said in the video.

Zenzie said she does her own hair and makeup, dispelling what she said is "probably the biggest myth" about TV news.

"The getting ready process for TV is like a construction project: It's messy along the way but the end results speak for itself."
