Heavy Rain, Wind, Cold Temperatures All Forecast For Memorial Day Weekend In CT

If you have outdoor plans this Memorial Day weekend in Connecticut we wish we had better news for you.

Rain and chilly temperatures are in the forecast for this Memorial Day weekend, but meteorologists anticipate some breaks in precipitation if you are planning outdoor activities.

As of Friday, meteorologists are saying the weather on Sunday will be the wettest and worst of the three-day weekend.

The National Weather Service predicts dry weather will hold out through Saturday for many, then “Sunday will feature a soaking rain across southern New England.”

“There still exists considerable uncertainty as to rain chances on Memorial Day but it is unlikely to be a washout like Sunday,” the National Weather Service said.

WFSB predicts today will be dry and a bit warmer, with highs reaching up to 70 degrees.

For Memorial Day weekend, WFSB predicts “rounds of showers are possible,” though the weekend won’t be a total washout.

WFSB is forecasting showers late in the day on Saturday moving from southwest to northeast, followed by steadier rain on Saturday night.

For Saturday, WTNH also forecasts rain will be moving across the state from southwest to northeast during the day, with wet weather overspreading the state by the late afternoon, and rain everywhere at night.

WFSB is calling Sunday a “First Alert Weather Day,” due to rain, with the heaviest rain the first half of the day, followed by gradual tapering off Sunday afternoon.

“We’re looking at 1-2″ of rain, impacting outdoor plans and travel. Flooding is not a concern given the duration of rain and the fact that we are running rainfall deficits. Also, it will be unseasonably cool, as temperatures will only be in the mid and upper 50s,” WFSB reports.

WTNH is also predicting it will be “rainy, windy and chilly” for any outdoor events or plans Sunday, with showers tapering off Memorial Day morning.

WFSB is calling Memorial Day the best day for outdoor plans, with a mostly dry day, with some possible isolated showers and highs in the mid-60s to around 70.
