CONNECTICUT — A 2-day major storm is set to begin Thursday evening and before it ends Connecticut could see 2-3 inches of rain, 55 mph wind gusts, and numerous power outages as we head into the holiday weekend.

Temperatures will fall from the 50s on Friday morning to the teens by late Friday, and the cold temperatures will remain throughout the weekend. The two major concerns are the expected power outages and flash freeze conditions late Friday and Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory statewide, a coastal flood warning is in effect for the I-95 corridor towns and a flood watch is in effect for Litchfield County.

"This morning is fine, but our sky becomes overcast," said Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon with Scot Haney. "Then, things start to go downhill during the afternoon hours as a significant storm system moves in. Precip begins, at the onset and briefly, there could be a little wintry mix; otherwise, it’s rain." (Watch the WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here).
