CT Weather: Memorial Day Weekend Forecast Updates, Storms Saturday

A top CT meteorologist said if we have outdoor plans on Saturday that we should have a back-up plan just in case a storm moves through.

CONNECTICUT — The Memorial Day weekend weather forecast is looking better for Saturday as there remains a chance for a rain shower and thunderstorm, but after a cloudy start we should see the sun too during the afternoon hours.

Sunday and Monday will both be sunny and warm, with temperatures into the 70s and 80s.

On Friday, most of the day remains dry under cloudy skies, but the chance for showers and storms is expected in the evening hours and overnight. The National Weather Service said most of the storms, if they materialize, shouldn't be severe. Most of the expected severe weather will remain to the west of Connecticut.

On Saturday we can expect a cloudy start, possibly some early morning rain showers and then better weather in the afternoon, though a pop-up thunderstorm is still possible.

WTNH chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "Watch out for a thunderstorm this evening and some storms moving through overnight tonight. Some sun tomorrow but I would have a back-up plan for a quick hitting possibly severe thunderstorm coming through." (Read more about the holiday forecast at WTNH News 8).
