Winter Weather Advisory Issued For 4 Counties In CT: New Details Released

The National Weather Service has released new details on the timing and how much snow, ice and rain to expect across the state.

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Hartford, Tolland, Windham, and Litchfield counties as snow and sleet is forecast Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

In interior sections of southern Connecticut, a mix of snow and sleet is expected Wednesday night, according to a special weather statement. And for the I-95 corridor towns, from Greenwich to Stonington, it is expected to be largely a plain rain event.

The Thursday morning commute may be a slippery one across the state, except on the immediate coast.

***Interior sections of Fairfield/New Haven County: "Steady light snow and sleet will taper and likely transition to spotty light freezing rain and drizzle across elevations above 500 ft through this evening," the weather service said in a special weather statement. "This icing threat will likely continue through around midnight, before rising to even higher and less traveled elevations late tonight. Untreated surfaces in these areas could become icy.
