Timeline For Severe Weather Released: Here's What To Expect Friday In CT

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Friday for Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Friday.

The biggest concern with any storms that do develop is strong wind gusts and potentially "torrential downpours," according to the weather service.

WFSB 3 TV meteorologist Scott Haney said, "scattered thunderstorms develop during the afternoon hours and move across the state. We’ve declared an EARLY WARNING WEATHER ALERT since the storms could be strong to severe. The biggest threat will be a gusty, perhaps damaging wind. Hail is possible in the strongest storms and within the region, an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. Of course with any thunderstorm, lightning is one our biggest concerns here in Connecticut."
