Timeline, New Details On How Tropical Storm Nicole Will Impact CT
The remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole will generate significant weather impacts for CT on Friday/Saturday. Here are the new details.
CONNECTICUT — Thursday is going to be a beautiful weather day as sunshine and warm temperatures are forecast. Friday's weather forecast isn't so nice.
Rain showers are forecast to develop Friday morning, and the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole will have the greatest impact on the state Friday night and in the early morning hours of Saturday.
Here is what the WFSB 3 TV weather team says we can expect in Connecticut.

"We continue our Early Warning Weather *Alert* for later tomorrow into early Saturday… this is when an approaching cold front will draw north and absorb the remnant moisture from Nicole.
"Latest model guidance has been indicating a shift west in track. This translates to relatively less rain, but likely stronger wind for Connecticut. While 1-2″ of rain could still fall, wind gusts could top 50mph – especially across coastal and southeastern parts of the state. This could lead to isolated power outages.

"Isolated thunderstorms will be possible. The wind, initially out of the south will pump warm, humid, tropical air into the state. Saturday, temperatures could reach near/above 70 early in the day, then behind the cold front the wind switches to the northwest. This will allow cooler air to arrive as the day progress with at least partial clearing during the afternoon. Sunday is dry, but cooler. While still breezy, temperatures struggle to reach 50," according to Chief Meteorologist Mark Dixon with Scot Haney. Accuweather.com says in a Thursday update that "In the zone east of Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia and northward to cities such as New York, Hartford, Connecticut, and Boston, downpours are likely to produce lesser rainfall amounts of an inch or two. On top of that, a surge of warmth and humidity in this corridor will bring an increased risk of severe thunderstorms, as AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek warned earlier this week. With Nicole's track farther to the west, Dombek explained that thunderstorms erupting in the Interstate 95 corridor on Friday and Friday night could be potent enough to bring damaging wind gusts."
