CT's Coronavirus Positive Test Rate Declines After Recent Spikes

Connecticut's coronavirus figures showed some improvement Thursday, but the overall trend continues in the wrong direction.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut’s daily coronavirus report on Thursday looked better than previous days, but the trend over the past couple of weeks has been more hospitalizations along with concentrated pockets of high infection.

Southeastern Connecticut continues to see higher levels of infections per capita than the rest of the state. Danbury’s coronavirus infections remain stubbornly high, but have shown some improvement since late August and early September. Hartford has now entered the state Department of Public Health’s red coronavirus alert threshold.

There were 213 new positive cases reported Thursday out of nearly 16,000 tests for a positive test rate of 1.34 percent. Hospitalizations broke a trend of daily double-digit daily increases on Thursday with a net increase of three patients up to 191 total.
