Discount Retail Store To Move Into Toys 'R Us Space In Danbury

DANBURY, CT — A discount closeout retailer will be moving into the space vacated by Toys 'R Us and Babies 'R Us on Backus Avenue.

Ocean State Job Lot recently purchased the ground lease for the 65,700 square foot commercial space in the Danbury Square shopping center. The retailer will carve out 45,000 square feet of that for the new store. OSJL is in the process of looking for a second retail tenant to occupy the remaining 20,000 square feet of space.

This is the Rhode Island-based chain's first store n Western Connecticut, but 29th statewide. Ocean State Job Lot operates 142 stores located throughout New England, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The retailer specializes in not specializing, offering a wide range of merchandise at discount prices.
