Disney On Ice, 'Golden Girls' & Exhibits: This Weekend In CT
Here's a look at some of the fun events around the state this weekend.
CONNECTICUT — There's something for all ages entertainment-wise this weekend in Connecticut.
This is a long weekend, with Monday being a holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Westport is one of the communities planning celebrations to honor the Civil Rights Leader, including a discussion with journalist and scholar Jelani Cobb on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Also this weekend, Disney on Ice, a "Golden Girls" mystery, art exhibits and a "Frozen" pajama party are just some of the fun activities in Connecticut this weekend. Check out what's on tap below.

In Hartford, from Thursday through Sunday, Jan. 15-18: Disney on Ice at PeoplesBank Arena. "Disney On Ice invites families to step inside the magical adventures of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen, the #1 Animated feature of all time, and Disney Animation’s Encanto, the 2022 Academy Award®, BAFTA®, and Golden Globe® Award winner for Best Animated Feature, as they come to life like never before."
On Friday, Jan. 16, in Ridgefield, Fran Lebowitz will be at the Ridgefield Playhouse. "Her essays and interviews offer her acerbic views on current events and the media – as well as pet peeves including tourists, baggage-claim areas, after-shave lotion, adults who roller skate, children who speak French, or anyone who is unduly tan. The New York Times Book Review calls Lebowitz an 'important humorist in the classic tradition.'" SE Cupp moderates the evening.

Also on Friday in Newtown, Golden Girls Gone Wild Murder Mystery at Aquila's Nest Vineyards. "It’s Dorothy’s birthday and after Sophia hit the jackpot at the casino, she decided to throw her pussycat a surprise birthday bash. Wanting to be sure her daughter had a date to her own party, Sophia has arranged to have a dating game here tonight. Watch out single men in the audience because you may become one of the contestants and Blanche is on the prowl too!"
In Darien, upstate New York artist, Jeni Follman, has an exhibit, titled "Between Light and Memory," at the Geary Gallery, through the end of the month. "This January, the Geary Gallery of Darien proudly presents its January exhibition, “Between Light and Memory” featuring the dreamlike abstracts of upstate New York artist, Jeni Follman. Her paintings blend realism and abstraction into soft, ethereal atmospheres that evoke memory, emotion, and the quiet spaces between moments."
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday in Middlefield, 1741 Pub & Grill is hosting a Disney's Frozen PJs and Pancakes Party. "Cozy up in your PJs and join us for a magical breakfast-for-dinner evening at 1741 Pub & Grill on January 17th from 4 PM - 8 PM! Indulge in pancakes, eggs, and all your favorite breakfast treats - yes, for dinner! - while enjoying Disney's Frozen playing on the TVs in the background. Kids can also unleash their creativity with some crafts, making it the perfect snowy adventure for the whole family."
In Norwich at the Slater Memorial Museum, through April 15, the traveling exhibition, "Nympheus Luminansis: The Waterlilies of Light" by French artist Laurence Saunois, will be on display. "Coming exclusively to Slater Museum before traveling across the United States, Nympheus Luminansis: The Waterlilies of Light, is a series of 10 large-scale works of art by French artist Laurence Saunois. This show stands as a tribute to Claude Monet and his famous series of paintings depicting the iconic French waterlilies. As an international award-winning artist, Saunois has exhibited throughout Europe and was named the International Artist of the Year by the BBC in 2010 at its yearly wildlife art contest."
