SIMSBURY, CT — A local road in Simsbury is closed after wires came down Wednesday afternoon.

The incident coincided with a line of thunderstorms that hit Connecticut during the afternoon.

According to the Simsbury Department of Public Works, Bushy Hill Road (Route 167) was closed at Nilas Way due to fallen wires.

The DPW, which issued an alert at 3:52 p.m., urged folks to avoid this area.

According to the state Department of Transportation, a utility pole actually caught fire and it was "unknown" when the scene would be cleared.
