Driver Dies In Fiery CT Pickup Truck Crash: State Police

A driver died after their car struck a utility pole and became fully engulfed in flames, state police said.

WOODSTOCK, CT —A driver is dead after a pickup struck a utility pole in Woodstock on Wednesday, according to state police.

A Ford F350 with Massachusetts plates was driving southbound on Route 198 at 5:20 p.m. For an unknown reason, the truck drove off the right shoulder, hit a utility pole, and came to an uncontrolled final rest against a tree.

The truck caught fire and became fully engulfed, police said.

The driver was declared dead at the scene of the accident by emergency medical services. The driver's identity is still pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation remains ongoing.
