Driver Runs Over 61-Year-Old Woman After Fight In Torrington: Police

The driver assaulted the 61-year-old, the victim's daughter and a 68-year-old woman, before trying to leave the scene, police said.

TORRINGTON, CT — A fight between several women resulted in a driver dragging and eventually running over a 61-year-old in Torrington, according to police.

Officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. to the 100 block of Turner Avenue, where they found the victim lying in the road with serious injuries, police said. The woman was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and stabilized, according to police.

The injury was the result of an incident that began when Ciara Egeter was speeding through the area and was told to slow down, police said. Egeter assaulted the 61-year-old, the victim’s daughter and a 68-year-old woman, before trying to leave the scene while the victim was holding onto the passenger door, dragging the victim and running her over with the rear tire, according to police.

Egeter was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault of an elderly person, three counts of risk of injury, second-degree breach of peace, reckless driving and drug paraphernalia possession, police said. She was being held Saturday on a $500,000 bond and was set to appear in court Sept. 5, according to police.
