Eversource Ending Moratorium On Non-Hardship Disconnections
Disconnection "activities," suspended by Eversource during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, are resuming.

CONNECTICUT — Eversource Energy Tuesday said that the moratorium on residential service disconnections for nonpayments will expire for "non-hardship" Connecticut customers on Sept. 15.

Eversource officials said residential customers in financial difficulty will not be affected by the move.

Eversource officials said any customers who need help with their bills can contact the guilty to discuss payment assistant options.
Eversource officials also sent out a reminder to customers about its payment programs, including:

- A matching payment program for electric or gas heating customers that offers monthly payments as low as $50. Enrollment for the upcoming heating season begins Nov. 1.
- An electricity program called New Start, which forgives overdue balances as on-time monthly budget payments are made.
- A winter protection program that overrides disconnection from November to May.
- An energy assistance program designed to provide payments toward a customers' heating bills.
- Eversource's virus-related payment plan, for which all Eversource customers qualify is designed to let customers pay a past-due balance over a period of up to 24 months with no interest charges and no down payment. Enrollment is open through Sept. 30, or when the state's public health and civil preparedness emergency status ends.
