Eversource Sends Crews To Louisiana For Power Restoration Work

A fleet of Eversource trucks left Connecticut Monday for post-Hurricane Ida power restoration efforts.

BERLIN, CT — A convoy of line and emergency trucks from Eversource Energy left Connecticut for Louisiana Monday to help with what is being called "a major power restoration effort in the wake of Hurricane Ida.

Millions of power outages are expected in Louisiana following the storm, Eversource officials said.

About 40 Eversource line crews from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire — along with support staffers — made the trip South to assist Entergy Louisiana with restoration.

Gov. Ned Lamont was among those who were on hand at the Eversource headquarters Monday to see the fleet off.

"This is Connecticut values in action — generosity and care. Proud to have been there to send them off this morning," Lamont said in a morning Tweet.

Eversource officials said the company worked through the electric utility industry's mutual aid network over the weekend to "offer resources to support what is expected to be a massive restoration effort." Eversource is a longstanding member of the network that collaborates to help restore power following devastating storms and major events.
