Facts, Figures And Info You Need About The Connecticut Football Finals

Six state high school football champions will be crowned Saturday. Here are times, locations, team rosters, records and all pertinent info.

CONNECTICUT — A dozen finalists have been determined for Saturday's CIAC state championship football games at two Division I college stadiums in Connecticut. Three contests each will be played at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, and Arute Field at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.

Game times are 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Digital tickets must be purchased in advance, and may be obtained here; tickets will not be sold at the gates. An electronic copy of the game programs may be downloaded here.

Here are some interesting facts about the teams involved in the championship matchups.

  • Berlin (12-0, Class M) and Ansonia (12-0, Class S) are the only two schools with a chance to finish with a perfect record.
  • Maloney (Class L) and Killingly (Class MM) are the only two teams looking for a second straight championship. Fairfield Prep (Class LL) and Bloomfield (Class S) are looking to avenge defeats in last year's title games.
  • Just two matchups feature the top two seeds battling it out (Berlin vs. Notre Dame-West Haven, Class M; Ansonia vs. Bloomfield, Class S).
  • Ansonia is on a quest for a record 21st state title. Notre Dame-West Haven is making its first state championship game appearance, while North Haven and Joel Barlow seek their first state crowns.
  • In the first two rounds of the playoffs, Greenwich leads the way with 89 points scored, while tying with North Haven for fewest points allowed (seven).
