Hartford/Tolland County Teams Lock Up State Tournament Berths

The countdown is on for the remaining days of the regular season for high school volleyball, soccer and field hockey teams throughout Connecticut, but nearly 100 teams in Hartford and Tolland counties have already guaranteed their hopes for a state championship remain alive by virtue of having already qualified for postseason competition.

The CIAC tournaments in those sports permit all teams with a winning percentage of .400 or better to participate. A total of 96 teams from Hartford and Tolland counties have already earned berths, with several others still hoping to qualify over the final few games of the schedule.

There are 31 qualifiers thus far from the region in girls volleyball, 27 in boys soccer, 26 in girls soccer and a dozen in field hockey.
