Hazardous Weather Outlook Changed For CT
Thunderstorms aren't the primary issue Tuesday, but parts of the state could see a lot of rain.
CONNECTICUT The National Weather Service has updated its Hazardous Weather Outlook for Connecticut as heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are possible Tuesday. Earlier this week there was concern that severe thunderstorms would blanket the state, but it appears that any thunderstorms won't be as widespread.
The real concern now is for heavy rains and potential flash flooding.
Heavy downpours are expected in the southern part of the state and localized flash flooding is possible, especially in urban and poor drainage locations, according to the NWS. Local damaging wind gusts are also not out of the question. Up to 1.5 inches of rain is possible Tuesday.

Thunderstorms are possible after noon and again mainly before midnight in the southern part of the state. There is also a slight chance of overnight thunderstorms.
Heavy showers with some localized thunderstorms are possible for the northern part of the state, but the concern for flash flooding is mainly along the state’s coast. Most of the north will get less than .2 inches of rain Tuesday, but there could be higher localized amounts due to thunderstorms.

"Any thunderstorms that do develop could produce very heavy rain, medium to large sized hail, and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes," wrote NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Josh Cingranelli.
