Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Southern CT As Snow Forecast
Find out how much snow to expect and when, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook alert for southern Connecticut due to light snow predicted to fall in the region tonight.
“Scattered snow showers or a brief period of light to moderate snow late tonight will likely bring a dusting to (a half inch) of snow to much of the area,” the alert states. “Locally up to (one inch) of snow is possible.”
The chance of scattered snow showers in southern Connecticut tonight is at 50 percent, according to the National Weather Service.

It predicts any snow showers will happen after 1 a.m. tonight in southern Connecticut.
There is also a “slight” chance of snow, or a 20 percent chance, in northern parts of the state, between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

WFSB reports there is a chance for flurries tonight and into the predawn hours of Saturday, “compliments of a quick-moving disturbance.”
In the short term, today is expected to be sunny with high temperatures in the mid-30s.
A milder trend
After tonight’s snow chance, the state is expected to experience dry weather and warmer temperatures.
The National Weather Service predicts Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny, with daytime temperatures in the upper 30s.
Meteorologists are tracking a coastal storm which will be near the state late Sunday, however, as of Friday forecasters were predicting it will miss Connecticut.
“Model trends continue to indicate it passes offshore from us here in Southern New England,” WFSB reports. “Current thinking is that we’ll see an increase in cloudiness as it develops Sunday, then increasing sunshine Monday as it moves farther offshore. We’re still a few days out and will keep you updated if this changes!”
Presidents’ Day on Monday is expected to be dry and pleasant, with highs around 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It predicts Tuesday and Wednesday will be even warmer, with highs reaching into the mid-40s. There is a 40 percent chance of rain for Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind 6 to 8 mph.
Tonight: Scattered snow showers, mainly after 1 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 21. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the morning.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Calm wind.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Light and variable wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning.
Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.
Washington's Birthday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40.
Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45.
Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 45.
