VERNON, CT — Disc golf aficionados can sniff out a good course anywhere in Connecticut and this week, they can follow their noses to a point about a mile off the Exit 66 Interstate-84 interchange, up a hill, past a vast array of community gardens and into some woods. There, in an isolated corner next to the Vernon Center Middle School campus, sits the Ecker Hill Disc Golf Course.

The course was completed in October 2014 and was designed by Jasin Bayer and Clayton Davidson. Ecker Hill has a permanent layout with 18 baskets and rubber tee pads along a mixed layout of wooded, open, hilly and flat fairways.

Some of the hills are rather steep.

How versatile is the terrain? It's also part of the middle school cross country course.
