Intoxicated Man Had Loaded Gun On School Property In New Fairfield: PD

The man was arrested after police said he was on the grounds of an elementary school with a loaded gun while intoxicated.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — A New Fairfield man was arrested Wednesday after police said he was on the grounds of an elementary school with a loaded gun while intoxicated.

The school resource officer at Consolidated School on Gillotti Road was alerted around 1:15 p.m. of a man smoking on school property, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said the school resource officer at Meeting House Hill School also responded to the scene.

An investigation found that the man was under the influence of alcohol and had a loaded gun on school property, according to police.

The suspect, identified as Richard J. Logo, was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Police said Logo, 55, was taken to Danbury Hospital and arrested by officers. His gun was seized and pistol permit revoked, according to police.

“The school’s administration was immediately notified of the incident and at no time were the students and/or faculty in immediate danger,” police wrote in the incident report.

Logo was charged with illegal carry of firearm – under the influence of drugs/alcohol and possession of weapon on school grounds. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond with a court date of April 12.
