According to a state police report issued Wednesday afternoon, troopers from the state police Troop D barracks in Danielson were called at 10:05 p.m. to do a well-being check for an adult male relative.

The caller, police said, reported the person was overdue to return home and was known to be visiting the Whetstone Mill condo complex in Killingly.

Eventually, police tracked down the person in a unit at the complex, where he was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering "life-threatening injuries," according to the report.

The state police's Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded and assumed the criminal probe, with Neidhart being arrested shortly thereafter.

Neidhart is currently detained on a $500,000 bond and was transported to Danielson Superior Court for arraignment.

Police said this incident is isolated and there is no threat to the public, though the investigation is active and ongoing.
