Kings and Queens of the Tennis Court Crowned In State Open

One school produced three of the six champions, while all winners hail from the same Connecticut county.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — It was a dominant day on the courts for high school tennis players from Fairfield County, as three schools within a 32-mile radius of each other swept the four titles at the CIAC State Open championships at Wesleyan University.

In the girls doubles finals, twins Devon and Taylor Yaghmaie of Stamford High School cruised past Anna Lang and Claire Langille of Daniel Hand, winning 6-1, 6-3. Last year, the twins placed second.

Ditto for Alyssa DiMaio of Staples, who bettered last year's runner-up performance by dropping undefeated top seed Alexis Kubas of Ellington by a 6-3, 6-3 count.
