Lots For Kids To Do In CT This Weekend

Here's a look at some of the fun events around the state this weekend.

The Super Bowl is on Sunday, and the Winter Olympics kicked off on Friday, but in Connecticut this weekend, there is a lot of other family fun in store, with a host of events geared towards kids.

And for the adults, singer-songwriter Bret Michaels is also scheduled to perform.

On Saturday, Feb. 7, Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk has the Sweetheart Ball: "Calling all little sweethearts – Stepping Stones invites you to a day of heartwarming fun at our annual Sweetheart Ball! Explore a sparkling, museum-wide celebration filled with music, dancing, creativity and playful surprises around every corner."

Also on Saturday, Mohegan Sun hosts rocker Bret Michaels with his tour, "An Evening with Bret Michaels," at the Uncasville-based resort casino: "Whether he’s selling out stadiums or headlining hit TV shows, Bret Michaels consistently brings his iconic energy and star power to over three generations of loyal fans. As one of music’s most legendary singers and songwriters, Michaels counts Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Go That Far & Nothing But A Good Time as part of his robust catalog of mega-hits."

At the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford, it's Mario Kart Day on Saturday: "MarioKart Day puts science in the driver’s seat! This dynamic event explores the scientific principles behind racing, speed, and motion through immersive activities and engaging demonstrations. From testing reaction times in the MarioKart Game Zone to racing slot cars on a giant Slot Car Speedway, participants will see how physics, engineering, and problem-solving shape every race."

On Sunday, the Loos Center for the Arts in Woodstock hosts Puppy Pals LIVE!: "Sit, Stay, and Get Ready for a Howling Good Time! Puppy Pals LIVE! is a family fun action-packed show where adopted and rescued dogs perform spectacular stunts and breathtaking feats. Watch as we lead the puppies and audience through challenging and comical tricks as the pooches show everyone who is really boss!"

For those avid readers, the Westbrook Outlets in Westbrook presents Connecticut Book Festivals' Mid-Winter Author Warmup on Saturday: "Join 60 Connecticut Authors along with many craft vendors, food trucks, and much more for this amazing indoor event. This event is now closed to author sign-ups. A waitlist has been started."

At the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts in Storrs on Sunday is a performance of "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," for children in grades PreK to 3: "Join us for an unforgettable adventure where the beloved children’s book springs to life on stage! This production features vibrant songs, energetic dancing, and whimsical puppets, ensuring a joyous experience for kids and adults alike.
