TOLLAND/HARTFORD COUNTIES, CT — McDonald's restaurants across Connecticut are looking to hire 3,372 restaurant employees this summer, according to corporate officials, including a franchise owner of several restaurants in north central Connecticut.

The hiring spree was announced Thursday.

Jobs offer a "a host of benefits" from full-time or part-time flexible schedules with "career advancement opportunities and tuition assistance," officials said.

McDonald's Thursday was also promoting its Archways to Opportunity program, through which crew and managers at participating restaurants can earn a high school diploma, take English as a Second Language classes, get tuition assistance and receive free guidance from advisers. Since 2015, local owner/operators have given out more than $1.8M in tuition assistance across Connecticut, officials said.

McDonald’s has also partnered with Colorado Technical University and Western Governors University as well as local community colleges, to offer a path for restaurant employees to earn an associate's or bachelor's degree at little to no cost.

"Investing in the communities throughout Connecticut is important to me," said Tim Walsh, a McDonald's owner/operator who has a strong presence in north central Connecticut. "As a local business owner, I care about my employees and want them to succeed. I am proud to offer meaningful employment, as well as high school and college education programs, to my crew and managers to help provide them with a bright future."

Flexible scheduling makes it easier for restaurant workers to manage and build a schedule that works for them. Employees at participating locations can go online to view their schedule, update availability, request time away and post shifts for replacement or swapping.
