Naugatuck Valley CC's Danbury Campus To Reopen Online
The new plan comes three days after the state DPH issued a "COVID-19 alert" for Danbury after a significant increase in cases.
DANBURY, CT — Naugatuck Valley Community College will not open its Danbury campus for the next two weeks, following a spike in COVID-19 cases in the city. Classes will instead be held online from Aug. 24-Sept. 6.
The decision does not affect NVCC's Waterbury campus.
"This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, to protect the health of all students, faculty, and staff," school officials posted to the college website.

All courses scheduled for in-school teaching on the Danbury campus will be held online. These courses will begin as LRON (Live Remote Online), which means that students and faculty will meet virtually via Blackboard at the regularly scheduled days and times starting on Aug. 26, as planned.

College officials said they planned to return to the traditional in-school format "as soon as it is safe to do so. "
"We understand that delaying the on-ground learning experience is inconvenient and disappointing to students and their families. However, it is our responsibility to follow state recommendations to keep our students, faculty, and staff as safe as possible while doing our part to prevent further spread in the community," officials said.
