New News Anchor Joins CT's Fox61

Sara Sanchez is the new co-anchor of the station's 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. news broadcast.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut's Fox61 has hired a new co-anchor for its 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, the station announced Monday.

Sara Sanchez joins the Hartford-based station from KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, California, where she was a news anchor for five years.

At Fox61, Sanchez will join co-anchor Brent Hardin on those two newscasts. The Laurel reported that Sanchez is replacing Amanda Raus, who resigned at the end of last year.

"I'm excited to join such a stellar and dynamic news team," Sanchez said in a statement on Fox61. "Brent Hardin, Rachel Frank and the rest of the FOX61 team have such a passion for the community, and I am looking forward to be part of such a strong news organization."

Before joining KMIR, Sanchez held various responsibilities while at KULR-TV in Billings, Montana, including anchor, reporter and meteorologist.

"Name it: I did it. (Except sports)," she wrote on her LinkedIn page.

That drive likely played a role in Sanchez being hired by Fox61.

"Sara is a seasoned journalist, anchor and proven leader in the newsroom with an outstanding track record," Humberto Hormaza, president and general manager of FOX61/CW20, said in a statement. "I am excited she will be joining our family at FOX61 in Hartford and look forward to her many contributions."
