CT Weather: Memorial Day Weekend To Include Rain, Cool Temps

These are not normal times in Connecticut so it seems fitting that the weather forecast for the upcoming holiday weekend is a bit odd too.

(Lanning Taliaferro/Patch)

CONNECTICUT — This isn't your typical Memorial Day weekend weather forecast and that likely makes sense because this isn't your typical Memorial Day weekend due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The biggest oddity is the fact that there won't be any major warmth. Temperatures will be in the 60s all three days at least along the coast and Saturday looks to be downright chilly, with a cold rain off and on throughout the day. Inland and northern areas may barely reach 70 degrees on Sunday and Monday. There may even be a thunderstorm or two early Saturday too.

On the plus side, Sunday and Monday are looking sunny but the temperaturess won't be optimal if you planned to hit the shoreline beaches.

Ironically, today's weather is the best by far with temps into the mid-to-upper 70s and nothing but sunshine. Rain rolls in overnight and up to a half inch of rain is possible throughout the day Saturday before it dries out in the evening hours.

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "Another nice day today! Sunny skies with temperatures in the 70s! 80° in a few places too! I do expect some rain to come in tonight and it will be rainy at times all day Saturday! Inside activities for Saturday! Back to nice weather for Sunday and Memorial Day! Warming up and turning humid later next week!"
