Poor Air Quality Prompts Postponement Of CIAC Tournaments Wednesday
A lingering haze brought on by Canadian wildfires has prompted athletic officials to reschedule Wednesday's lacrosse and tennis competition.

CONNECTICUT — The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) has postponed Wednesday's state tournament lacrosse and tennis competition due to a poor air quality forecast brought on by wildfires burning in the Canadian province of Quebec.
"Most of this afternoon’s tournament schedule includes boys and girls lacrosse, a high-intensity aerobic sport," CIAC director of media relations John Holt said in a written statement. "The CIAC has postponed this afternoon's boys and girls tennis semifinals for consistency of our member schools' after-school plans."
The CIAC is rescheduling the postponed games for Thursday.

"Graduations and the uncertain air quality forecast are challenges in rescheduling games at this time," Holt said. "However, the CIAC is working to provide the best experience possible for its student-athletes."
