"I have a new opportunity on the horizon that I am very excited about and will announce that soon!" she teased on LinkedIn.

Bernstein said her decision to ankle the Connecticut Fox affiliate was not one she took lightly, "…but one I’ve thought about for a while. It feels like the right time to get uncomfortable and grow both professionally and personally."

The journalist's exit will leave a fair-sized hole in the Fox 61 duty roster. In addition to anchoring the marquee newscasts at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. nightly, Bernstein also co-hosts, produces, and books the station' weekly political show, "The Real Story," and directs Fox 61's political coverage, according to her LinkedIn page.

Her political report, "The Anatomy of an Attack Ad," won a New England Emmy in 2015, and she was nominated for an Outstanding Anchor Emmy in 2019 and 2022.

Bernstein worked at Fox61 in Hartford for over two years, before heading to Philadelphia as a general assignment reporter for CBS Philadelphia affiliate, KYW-TV. She made the move back to Fox, and Connecticut, in 2014

The anchor's social media curtain call had nothing but hearts and flowers for her co-workers, and the Connecticut residents she had featured in her reports:

"The hardest part of this is leaving my outstanding colleagues who’ve meant the world to me. I’ll always be here rooting for all of you. I’m grateful to FOX61 for the opportunity to take on this leadership role. A special thank you to everyone who has trusted me to tell their stories. Whether they were the proudest, most challenging, or painful moments of your lives, I’ll always carry pieces of your stories with me."

Bernstein's last day on-air for Fox61 will be August 1.
