Popular CT News Anchor Leaves One CT Station For Another: Update

Stephanie Simoni had been with WTNH-TV for a decade, and reportedly is now joining WFSB-TV.

CONNECTICUT — Stephanie Simoni, television news anchor at WTNH-TV for a decade, left the station last week, she announced on Facebook. The Laurel reports that she is joining WFSB-TV, where her husband, Roger Susanin, has been a reporter since 2015.

"It’s impossible to sum up a decade, so I’ll just express my appreciation," Simoni wrote. "To the News 8 viewers: I'm incredibly grateful to have been a small part of your lives. You have welcomed me into your homes day in and day out. Through good and bad. Wins and losses. Trusting me to tell your stories. A true honor. Thank you."

Simoni was not only an anchor at the New Haven-based station, but also was a reporter, and in her sign-off message, she also thanked her former colleagues.

"To my News 8 coworkers past and present: It has been a privilege to be in this crew," she wrote. "You are talented, smart, kind, and resilient. We have had thousands of laughs and even a few tears together. I have learned from each and every one of you. Thank you."

Before News 8, Simoni also was a morning anchor and reporter for a few years at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, and also held similar jobs in Savannah, Georgia, at WJCL/Fox 28.

The Little Rock station is where Simoni and Susanin met before dating and getting married.

At WFSB, Simoni will be the solo anchor for a new evening newscast, according to The Laurel.

"Excited and proud to join the @WFSBnews as the anchor of the new 7PM newscast starting May 2nd!" she wrote on Twitter.
