Popular TV News Reporter To Leave CT Station
A WFSB 3-TV reporter is leaving the station for a job in Baltimore.
CONNECTICUT — Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Dennis Valera said in a Facebook post that he is leaving the station to join a Baltimore TV news team. Valera joined WFSB 3-TV in December 2020, according to his bio.
Valera posted the following on Facebook: "As they say, onto the next. My time with WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News is coming to an end, my last day is this Friday. Very happy to announce I’m heading down to Maryland to join WJZ-TV | CBS Baltimore, I’m excited for what’s ahead.
"As with every chapter, I’m so grateful/appreciative of my time in CT. I learn not only about a new place, but about myself in a way I didn’t think I had to. To CT, especially to Waterbury, thanks for letting me tell your stories. I hope I did a good job!"

Before coming to Connecticut, Valera spent nearly four years in Fresno, California, where he reported on health access issues, agriculture, as well as numerous mass shootings and wildfires around the state. He started his news career in southeastern Idaho.
Valera is originally from the Chicagoland area and graduated from Columbia College Chicago.
