Popular TV Reporter Trades Snowy Connecticut For New Job In Florida

The veteran investigative journalist has covered everything from the 9/11 attacks to better working conditions for CT's visiting nurses.

Veteran investigative reporter Jeff Derderian announced this week that he is leaving New Haven's WTNH-TV for the sunny weather in Florida at WPLG Local 10 in Miami, Florida.

"It’s an honor to join one of the most aggressive and respected newsrooms in the country, covering South Florida alongside world-class photojournalists, producers, assignment editors, directors, and the digital team—producing more than 90+ hours of news each week," Derderian wrote on Facebook.

Channel 8 anchor Laura Hutchinson gave Derderian props for his work at the station.

An Emmy Award winner, Derderian was a freelancer for WTNH for the past two-and-a-half year, and also did some part-time reporting for News 12 Connecticut at the same time, according to LinkedIn.

Derderian thanked those he worked with at News 8 and News 12.

"I’m also deeply grateful to Channel 8 and the VIEWERS who TRUSTED me with their stories, and to the people who helped me along the way—Nancy Lynch who helped me SO much and is THE reason I returned to TV news," Derderian wrote.

"Stacey Pattberg then at News 12; and Chuck Carter, Nicole Warren, and Rich Graziano at News 8 - for trusting me to be part of your newsroom. Thank you to my agent Liz Hart for careful guidance."

And he had a special thank you to his wife for being a rock throughout his career.

"Most of all, thank you to my wife, Linda, Linda Berube Derderian whose love and support made this next chapter possible. Snow boots out, #305 in," Derderian said.
