139,558​ 'Winning' Powerball Tickets Sold In CT, Jackpot Balloons To $1.9B

CONNECTICUT — No one won the $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot on Nov. 5 and this means the grand prize for the Monday, Nov. 7 drawing is $1.9 billion and the one-time cash payout is $929.1 million, according to the Connecticut Lottery.

It's likely the $1.9 billion grand prize will grow in the hours before Monday night's drawing.

While no one won the $1.6 billion drawing on Nov. 5, the Connecticut Lottery reports that 139,558 "winning" tickets were sold in the state.

Here is a breakdown of those "winning" tickets sold in Connecticut, according to the CT Lottery:

• 3, $50,000 winners
• 132, $300 winners
• 187, $100 winners
• everyone else between $4 and $21

The winning Powerball numbers for Saturday, Nov. 5, are: 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and the Powerball of 20.

The winning Powerball numbers are drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, with Powerball results usually posted within 5 minutes.

The largest Powerball jackpot in history before Saturday's prize was $1.586 billion, which was split by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016.

Ticket sales end at least one hour before the drawing in most states, but a state may halt sales earlier. Check with your state lottery for the cut-off time.

To win the Powerball jackpot, a player must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number. The odds of picking the correct Powerball grand prize numbers are one in 292,201,338, which doesn't change even if more players buy tickets when the jackpot is enormous.
