The company says it aims to reduce costs and streamline its organizational structure.

CONNECTICUT — Jet engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney on Wednesday confirmed plans to reduce its global workforce.

The East Hartford-based company did not specify how many positions are impacted or where they are located.

It characterized the reduction as a “small” number of salaried positions.

In a statement to Patch on Wednesday, a company spokesperson said, “To ensure we are best positioned to address our customers’ most pressing needs now and into the future, we are taking actions to reduce overhead costs and streamline our organizational structure.”

“This includes conducting a small reduction of salaried positions globally,” the statement said. “These actions will allow us to reinvest in high-priority programs and better meet the strong demand for aerospace products.”

No WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) notice had been filed with the state Department of Labor as of Wednesday.
