Prominent CT News Anchor Announces Career Change

"My 7 years at News 8 fulfilled a dream to work at the station that I grew up watching."

Lisa Carberg, the popular WTNH-TV anchor, is leaving the New Haven-based station after seven years for a new job in-state, she announced on Monday.

Carberg, who also logged 13 years at NBC Connecticut before News 8, is joining the Yale Cancer Center in a media relations post.

"Through my medical reporting I have been amazed at the research and developments happening at Yale," Carberg wrote on Facebook. "Cancer took my father too soon. It impacts too many families, sadly."

She then owned her own public relations firm, Lisa Carberg Communications LLC, for a couple of years before joining WTNH.

"I will remain active to help local media connect with Yale’s top doctors and experts.

"It has truly been a pleasure and absolute honor to serve the people of my home state on a top news team. I thank you for your support."

She added that the new job will also allow her to see her daughter's sporting events before she heads to college.

Well-wishes are pouring in for Carberg and her new career.

"Wishing you the best in your new venture at Yale!" wrote WTNH anchor Kathryn Hauser. "Enjoy your time with your daughter."
