Rain, Cool Temperatures In Forecast For CT This Weekend: Meteorologists

Connecticut could see at least half an inch of rainfall, with temperatures below seasonal averages, according to its New York City office.

Saturday is expected to start off dry, with rain developing in the afternoon, and highs around 50 degrees.

The rain is predicted to continue into Saturday night, with lows in the upper 30s. The precipitation will taper off on Sunday, with eventual clearing and highs in the mid-50s on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

WFSB reports Saturday will be the cooler day of the weekend, with a dry start leading to likely scattered showers in the afternoon lasting overnight into Sunday.

“The wet weather is connected to a disturbance that will go from the Great Lakes toward the Mid-Atlantic states, putting CT on the northeastern side of the system,” WFSB reports. “This means SW CT will be favored for the most rain (0.5″ or more) with lesser amounts heading farther northeast across the state.”

According to WFSB, recent models show the rain lingering, with shower chances continuing Sunday morning and potentially into Sunday afternoon before dry weather returns.

Sunny skies will prevail on Monday, with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday: Rain likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 39. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. Northeast wind 7 to 11 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.
