Remaining Connecticut TGI Fridays Restaurants Shuttered
The lights have gone out in Connecticut for a once-popular chain for food and drink.
CONNECTICUT — Diners in Connecticut hit the lunchtime hours Thursday devoid of any TGI Fridays as the once popular chain abandoned its presence in the state.
The remaining three — at 209 Hale Road in Manchester, 348 Boston Post Road in Orange and at Brass Mill Commons in Waterbury — closed the night before.
The phone number for the Manchester location actually went through, and a general attendant answered the phone and began to take an order, only to then apologize upon realizing the location was no longer operating.

Alas, listings for the three designated them as "permanently closed."
The moves ended a recent succession of closings in Connecticut.

Just more than two weeks ago, a sign was posted on the glass doorway of the Fridays on Elm Street in Enfield restaurant. It read, "We regret to inform you that Fridays has made the difficult decision to close our doors at Enfield, CT effective October 6, 2024. We are extremely grateful to our loyal Guests and our Team Members at our Enfield restaurant."
The sign directed patrons to the nearest Fridays — Manchester.
That left Connecticut with restaurants there and in Waterbury and Orange — until this week, that is.
In August, it was announced that a new Chinese restaurant chain will open in the former TGI Fridays on Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. The Ugly Dumpling will occupy the 6,380-square-foot-space. Fridays had closed in January.
The Newington location had also closed in January.
Bloomberg reported this week that Fridays, in light of a failed attempt to be sold to a United Kingdom group, seemed to be preparing for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.
