Visit Simsbury's Public Works Department Saturday

SIMSBURY, CT — The local public works department is hosting a special touch-a-truck open house event Saturday that will also collect food for the area's needy.

The Simsbury Public Works Department is hosting the free event on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Simsbury DPW facility at 66 Town Forest Road, West Simsbury.

It promises to be a fun exerience that also educated families about how the town's roads and infrastructure are maintained and where their tax dollars go.

Visitors will be able to take tours of the facility, get up-close looks at Simsbury DPW vehicles and basically learn about how a town goes about managing its DPW.

Plus, there will be giveaways and games for the children.

Admission is free, but guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items as part of a "fill-a-truck" campaign for the local food bank.

The event is rain or shine, so Saturday's forecast shouldn't scare away any visitors.
