Some Parks Reach Vehicle Capacity, Close To New Guests [UPDATED]

Several state parks have achieved the maximum parking capacity Saturday, and are closed to new visitors for the day.

CONNECTICUT — Due to reaching capacity in their parking lots, several state parks have already been closed off to new visitors Saturday by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Those parks, with the times the closures were reported, are:

  • Gillette Castle State Park, East Haddam - the park is currently open to the public until sunset, but ticket sales for tours of the castle are sold out for the remainder of the day - 10:30 a.m.
  • Squantz Pond State Park, New Fairfield - 12:05 p.m.
  • Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison - 12:32 p.m.
  • Mount Tom State Park, Litchfield - 12:57 p.m.
  • Silver Sands State Park, Milford - 1:06 p.m.
  • Bigelow Hollow State Park, Union - 1:08 p.m.
  • Millers Pond State Park, Haddam - 1:27 p.m.
  • Quaddick State Park, Thompson - 1:36 p.m.
  • Rocky Neck State Park, East Lyme - 1:36 p.m.
  • Kent Falls State Park, Kent - 1:48 p.m.
  • Wadsworth Falls State Park, Middletown - 2:04 p.m.
