Sports Reporter/Anchor Departs CT Television Station

Nkwa Asonye was at the station for just over a year.

CONNECTICUT — Nkwa Asonye, a sports reporter and anchor at Fox61, left the station this month, he announced on Twitter.

"My time at @FOX61News has come to an end," Asonye wrote. "Super grateful for the highs and lows - looking forward to the future!"

Asonye was at the station for just over a year, and he has not given any immediate word on what the future holds. The Laurel was the first to report the move.

In addition to Fox61, Asonye also did some play-by-play and color commentary work on St. John's University sports for ESPN, and has been an admission associate at The Stony Brook School, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He has also done similar sports work for Stony Brook University.

Asonye currently co-hosts and executive produces "Award Tour: The Podcast," a show that discusses the "intersection of race, culture, and sports."
