'Starting A New Chapter': Popular TV News Reporter Exits CT Station

Ben Goldman, the 27-year-old anchor at FOX61 the past six years, announced that Friday would be his last day with the station.

CONNECTICUT — Another week, and another popular Connecticut news anchor has announced an exit for parts unknown.

Ben Goldman, the 27-year-old news presenter and reporter at FOX61 told his followers on social media that Friday will be his last day.

"I feel very fortunate that the team at FOX61 wanted me to stay longer, but I truly feel it’s time to grow and start a new chapter in life," Goldman posted on Facebook. He said he was "excited and hopeful" for what lay ahead, but would be taking some time off in the interim.

Goldman said the station "took a chance" on him 11 years ago when he was still a junior in high school, tapping him to host charity segments on-air. At the age of 21 and while still a full-time student at UCONN, Goldman began anchoring the weekend morning newscasts at the station. In the six years since, he has anchored every newscast during every hour of programming, according to his LinkedIn page.

At 8-years- old, Goldman, who grew up in Wethersfield, was diagnosed with a cancerous, inoperable brain tumor. He has used that experience "to ignite a career and path of self-growth in recent years that has brought him to where he is today" he wrote in his bio. He was the honorary co-chairman of the 2015 Travelers Golf Championship for the work he has done for other children and families battling pediatric cancer.

In his farewell post on social media, Goldman said he "could not be more grateful" for teh people who have guide him so far in his career, especially shouting out his "incredible mentors and friends" at FOX61.
