State Lawmakers Among NAACP's '100 Influential Blacks In CT'

State officials also made the Top 50 Prominent Latinos list.

Black and Puerto Rican Caucus Chairman, Geraldo Reyes, and Vice Chairman, Bobby Gibson, congratulate state lawmakers and commissioners for their selections to the State's Chapter of the NAACP's "2021 100 Influential Blacks in Connecticut" and Identidad Latina's Top 50 Prominent Latinos in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Chapter of the NAACP named 16 State Representatives and four State Senators to its list while the West Hartford-based newspaper, Identidad Latina, chose six prominent lawmakers to recognize for their work statewide. All are members of the BPRC.

"We are extremely proud of this exemplary group that continues to put public service ahead of themselves. This group of elected officials always strives to fight for all people, especially in communities of color," Reps. Reyes and Gibson said.

The NAACP honorees include:

Deputy Speakers Larry Butler (D-Waterbury) and Joshua Hall (Hartford).

State Representatives Raghib Allie-Brennan(D-Bethel/Danbury/Newtown/Redding), Andre Baker (D-Bridgeport), LarryButler (D-Waterbury), Tammy Exum (West Hartford/Avon/Farmington),Bobby Gibson (D-Bloomfield/Windsor), Brandon McGee(D-Hartford/Windsor), Anthony Nolan (D-New London), Corey Paris(D-Stamford), Quentin Phipps (D-Middletown), Robyn Porter(D-Hamden/New Haven), Travis Simms (D-Norwalk), Charlie Stallworth(D-Bridgeport), Emmanuel "Manny" Sanchez (New Britain/Newington),Stephanie Thomas (D-Norwalk/Westport/Wilton) and Toni Walker (D-NewHaven).

State Senators Doug McCrory (D-Bloomfield, Hartford, Windsor), PatBillie Miller (Darien/Stamford), Marilyn Moore (Bridgeport, Monroe,Trumbull) and Gary Winfield (D-New Haven/West Haven).

Identidad Latina selected six BPRC members among its Top 50 Prominent Latinos across the state including House Majority Leader Jason Rojas (D-Manchester/East Hartford), Assistant Deputy Speaker Pro-Tempore Hilda Santiago (D-Meriden), Representative Minnie Gonzalez (D-Hartford), Deputy Speaker Christopher Rosario (D-Bridgeport), Banking Commissioner Jorge Perez, and Housing Commissioner Selia Mosquero-Bruno.

This welcome news to the caucus only solidifies their legislative efforts. BPRC remains committed to continued advocacy and policy work to bring social, economic, and environmental justice to the communities that they have been elected to advocate for.
