State Open Wrestling, Girls Invitational: Complete Results

NEW HAVEN, CT — Exactly 10 years after capturing its first State Open wrestling team championship, the Xavier High School squad broke the 4-year stranglehold perennial powerhouse Danbury held on the title since 2017 by easily outdistancing the Hatters in action Saturday and Sunday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

The Falcons compiled 204 points to 145 for Danbury, with Simsbury edging East Hartford by a half-point to take third. Fairfield Warde rounded out the top five.

Simsbury had three individual weight class champions, while Xavier had a pair and nine other schools had one each.

A girls' invitational event was also conducted over the weekend, with Amity Regional edging Berlin for team honors by a 58-55 margin. Norwalk, Brien McMahon and RHAM finished third through fifth, respectively. Ten different schools were represented by individual weight class champions.
