WTNH meteorologists predict precipitation will arrive by sunrise Friday, with a chance for an evening storm due to a cold front.

“The Storm Prediction Center has western Connecticut under a Level 1 risk for a brief, isolated stronger storm, but widespread severe weather is not expected. The biggest threat with any storm that develops would be a briefly strong wind gust up to 60mph,” WTNH reports.

Weekend outlook

The weekend will dry out, with much chillier air moving into the state for Saturday.

The National Weather Service predicts daytime afternoon highs in the 50s on Saturday, then dipping to around freezing on Saturday night for inland Connecticut. Saturday is also expected to be windy.

“Behind this (Friday) system brings strong northwest winds and a shot of unseasonably cold air for Saturday, and it may feel like the mid 30s during the daytime!” the National Weather Service said.

WFSB predicts gusty winds for Saturday, but it says “the magnitude of cold and wind won’t be as notable as we once thought,” so it is no longer calling Saturday a “First Alert Weather Day.”

WTNH also says residents can expect colder weather for Saturday.

“The first flurries of the season are even possible in the Northwest Hills!” WTNH reports. “A strong, colder northwest wind will make things feel even chillier, with gusts exceeding 30 mph and occasionally topping 40 mph. Wind chills will make it feel like the 30s and low 40s for much of the day, so you’ll definitely want to bundle up if you’re heading outside.”

The National Weather Service predicts Sunday and Monday will both be clear and sunny, with Sunday highs in the 50s, and Monday reaching up into the low-60s.
