Summer Youth Theatre Develops Broadway Show

A workshop production will be staged as a part of Revolutionary Youth Theatre's Summer Teen Intensive.

This summer, Revolutionary Youth Theatre is doing something quite revolutionary! It will be developing a workshop version of a new musical with the hopes of a one day Broadway run. Unlike the usual fair for youth summer theater of standard Broadway hits, RYT is taking an unprecedented step in developing a brand new musical with a cast of young actors ranging from 14-21yrs. of age. The workshop is being developed in every way with- the book, lyrics, and music.

During the 3 week intensive scenes are being rewritten, cut and replaced. It’s a big undertaking to accomplish what RYT hopes to achieve with the first run of a very exciting idea. Director Mark Mazzarella says “Every musical gets its start somewhere- why not here at Revolutionary Youth Theatre.” The summer intensive is one of Connecticut’s unique summer theatre programs featuring master classes from industry professionals, Broadway stars to producers and casting directors.

Under the direction of Mark Mazzarella, this workshop production will be staged as a part of Revolutionary Youth Theatre’s Summer Teen Intensive. New York based composer Sean. P Pallatroni, who is responsible for the musical score and lyrics will act as musical director for this premiere production. The book was written by Mark Mazzarella and Darren J. Butler and music and lyrics by Sean P. Pallatroni.

SYNOPSIS: Inspired by true events, the new musical Out of the Blue is a remarkable and inspiring story of a seventeen yr. old girl named Sienna who is losing her eyesight to a genetic disease during her senior year. As an aspiring art student her dream of getting into her top choice art school is now all but lost with her impending diagnosis. With the help of her two best friends and an unlikely student tutor, Sienna finds the power to break through the darkness and hardships to fulfill her dreams and future life as an artist.

The show dates are July 23-24, at 7pm • Premiering at St. Paul Catholic High School Theatre, Bristol, CT
