Suspect Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In New Britain
The incident happened during a foot pursuit Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
NEW BRITAIN, CT — A suspect was injured in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon, city officials said.
Shortly after 3 p.m., police received information on the possible location of people believed to be connected to a prior shots-fired investigation in the vicinity of Union Street.
An officer found an individual matching the description near the Red Roof Inn walking with another male. Detectives tried to stop both individuals, but they fled on foot, city officials said.

A foot pursuit ensued into the east lot of 1 Herald Square. At that point, the officer-involved shooting happened, according to the city.
One person was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials did not comment on the extent of the individual’s injuries as of Thursday morning.

Police recovered a firearm in the immediate vicinity of one of the individuals, and a second firearm was recovered from the other individual after he was taken into custody, city officials said.
No one else was injured during the incident. Officials did not release the name of the officer involved.
The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General and Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crimes Squad are conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
